Dominique Loyer, Naturopath:
My Journey to Health

Inflammatory Bowel disease

At the age of 10, I learned I had ulcerative colitis. At that time, inflammatory bowel disease was not as common as it is today. So, like a “guinea pig”, I was the subject of several health studies. All the doctors and specialists said I’d have this disease all my life and would need to take medication.

I suffered from ulcerative colitis for 23 years, during which time I took high doses of medication. But the negative side effects made me question the methods. If medication was actually treating my disease and stabilizing my condition, why did I always relapse and become ill again.

Relapse and a Healthy Change

In 2008, physically and emotionally exhausted – and struggling with a constant back pain, I underwent a CT scan of the lumbar spine. A subsequent exam revealed that I had several abnormally size inflamed lymph nodes in my abdomen. After a series of tests, it was confirmed that I was suffering from another relapse.

That’s when my real journey to health began.

I chose to combine naturopathy with traditional medicine. After my health improved and stabilized, and I changed my lifestyle and eating habits, I decided to pursue a diploma in naturopathy at Collège de Naturopathie Christian Limoges and the Life Transformation Program at Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida.

Today, I’m dedicated to using the principles of naturopathy to help people with inflammatory bowel disorders and other health issues. By carefully listening to them, I’m able to empower people to make better choices according to their own situation and goals.
